What is access control?
In the fields of physical security and information security, access control (AC) is the selective restriction of access to a place or other resource. Permission to access a resource is called authorisation.
What are the different types of access control?
There are two main types of access control: physical and logical
- Physical access control limits access to buildings, yards, rooms and physical assets
- Logical access control limits connections to computer networks, system files and data
What is an Access Control List?
An access control list, with respect to a computer file system, is a list of permissions attached to an object. An ACL specifies which users or system processes are granted access to objects, as well as what operations are allowed on given objects.
What type of access control can I have?
With current technology access control methods are not restricted to traditional cards, fobs or keypads. We can now use mobile phones, fingerprints and number plates for example.
Can I have something simple?
